Fresh Off the Boat Recieves a Full Season Order

ABC has given the back 9 to Fresh Off the Boat, which will now air a full 22 episode season. The critically acclaimed Asian family sitcom has proved to resonate with viewers and has achieved a dedicated fan base.

The show had initially been picked up for a 13 episode second season in May, which is a fairly standard procedure for mid season shows entering their second seasons in the Fall. This procedure is due to many mid-season shows having drastic decreases in viewer levels over the summer, such as ABC's very own Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 and NBC's About a Boy. After three weeks of solid ratings, ABC has decided to commit to a years worth of episodes.

In the three weeks since the Fresh Off the Boat returned, the how has averaged a 1.8 rating in adults -49and has showed a noteworthy consistency in ratings figures. 'FOTB' premiered to a 1.9, the following week it fell slightly to a 1.7, then rebounded to a 1.8 all without the aid of a strong lead in. Since the Show's Tuesday berth in February this year, FOTB has been a ratings self starter and continues to anchor Tuesday nights. This past week (Oct 6), FOTB built on the 1.6 it's lead in 'The Muppets' earned and became the highest rated comedy of the night.
